Within its Human Formation program, IPL organized a visit to the Girondins farm on Thursday June 1st.
Located in the heart of the Gerland district, the Girondins farm is a former industrial site that has been redeveloped into an innovative and inclusive third-living space.
The visit focused on the issues of proximity and food sovereignty, on how to grow crops in the city and on polluted soils, on how to use the resources of the city and its surroundings to recreate fertile soils and on how to raise urban’s awareness of nature in the city and healthy eating.
IPL students listened with attention to Mathieu Arar’s explanations. With a multi-dimensional approach – historical, economic, political, agronomic, social and even philosophical – he enabled our future engineers to deeply enrich their thinking on what our food sovereignty could be.
