The IPL team was honored to take part in the 10th anniversary of the Welcome Conference organized by Campus France. This annual event, dedicated to improving the welcome of international students in France, was held in Nancy on May 28 and 29, 2024. It brought together key players in higher education and research, the President of Campus France, and representatives of various institutions and organizations involved in welcoming international students. All participants emphasized the importance of the event and their institutions’ ongoing commitment to the internationalization of French higher education.
Enriching Exchanges
Exchanges were extremely enriching throughout the conference, with workshops covering a variety of essential topics on welcoming international students:
• Attractiveness and Reception of Internationals in Nancy: Discussion on local initiatives to make the city more welcoming and attractive to foreign students.
• Housing: Overview and solutions to improve access to housing for international students.
• Visa and Residence Permit: Information on administrative procedures and improvements made to simplify the visa and residence permit application processes.
• Preventive health care: Information on the health services available to international students and preventive actions.
• European funding: European funding opportunities for students and institutions.
• Bienvenue en France Label: Discussion of the label and its role in improving the welcome and integration of international students.
A Friendly Moment at the Grand Salon of the City Hall
On May 28, after a day full of discussions and workshops, the 300 participants gathered by Campus France were invited to a cocktail reception in the Grand Salon of Nancy’s Hôtel de Ville. The event provided an exceptional setting for further exchanges, strengthening the bonds between participants and encouraging informal discussions.
The Campus France Welcome Conference was a unique opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges and best practices, and strengthen our shared commitment to better welcoming international students.
